KATE ‘KITTY’ AARONOVITCH and ALEC ‘ALF’ GOLDSTEIN

were married on 21 January 1940 at Stepney Orthodox Synagogue with the reception at the Embassy Ballrooms in Bow E3. Both Kate & Alf were born in 1910 in the UK. Kate’s parents came from Vilnius, Lithuania & Alf’s from Poland. In WWII, Alf joined the Army and was based in the UK. He subsequently joined Rakusen’s as a sales rep for their grocery products. Kate was a dressmaker & her own wedding dress was beaded by her. The couple first lived in Cephas St E1 and then moved to Clapton. They had one daughter, Carole,who married Robert Levy in 1971. This portrait was displayed for a time in the window of Boris’s studio in Whitechapel Rd.
