MIRIAM KAHLER and SAM COHEN

were married on 3 June, 1945 at the Adath Yisroel Synagogue, Stoke Newington by Rabbi Dr Solomon Schonfeld. Miriam, born in the UK in 1924 was a secretary and lived with her parents, Morris and Rachel Kahler, in Stoke Newington. Morris owned a jewller’s and watchmaker’s shop in Fieldgate Street, E1. Sam was born in 1908 in the UK and was the son of Annie and Israel Cohen, a cabinet maker, from Amhurst Rd, Hackney. During WWII, Sam joined the Royal Army Service Corps and then the Parachute Regiment, serving in several countriesincluding France and Belgium. Miriam and Samlived in Stoke Newington for a short while before moving to Birmingham in 1949. Sam was a synagogue administrator and registrar for marriages at Birmingham Central Synagogue.
