BEATRICE ‘BETTY’ EVANSKY and SOLOMAN ‘SIDNEY’ SYMONS

were married on 26 February 1939 at the Great Synagogue, Bethnal Green Rd with the reception at the Princes Galleries in Piccadilly. It was catered by M.Stern & Sons of Dalston with dancing to the Embassy Band. Sidney was a ‘poultry dealer’ & unusually for those days owned a car. Betty’s father, Symon, was a self-employed ‘master tailor’ while Sidney’s father, Marks, was a cabinet maker, born in Poltava in the Ukraine. The couple lived in Gilda Crescent, Stamford Hill for more than 35 years and had three children, Sheila, Mavis & Michael.
