JACKSON FAMILY

(previously Shatkofsky) in 1945 after VE day. From left, Monty aged 23; father, Jack, born in Poland in 1896 arrived in UK in 1905 & married Hannah (known as Annie) Guttenberg on 12 August 1917 at East London Synagogue, Rectory Square, Stepney Green, E1. Jack had tailoring shops, called Jacksons in Petticoat Lane, Dalston, Homerton & Stoke Newington and during WWII was an ARP warden; Stanley aged 19; Sylvia aged 11 later married Josef Perl (a holocaust survivor) who was a cutter & pattern designer for ladies clothing; Betty aged 15 later married a tailor; Alan aged 17; mother, Hannah, born in Poland in 1896 & worked in the tailoring shops; Renee aged 25 later married a tailor. All three sons went into the family tailoring business on the sales side.
